Paramore is a rock band from Tennessee, USA. Founded in 2004 in the height of the 'Emo' era, their music has always dealt with themes of heartbreak, betrayal and sadness as was common in Emo music. Their female lead singer Hayley Williams has a soulful voice which makes them stand out from a crowd of men. Their 2017 album 'After Laughter' has them experimenting with a new sound. There are several songs on the album that accurately reflect the Happiness Paradox I've been researching. Especially the song Fake Happy - it is in a major key with an upbeat and happy backing track. However the lyrics are all about pretending to be happy when you're actually miserable. I have highlighted some lyrics that sum this up perfectly. The video sees Williams in a crowd of happy faces with painted on glitter tears.
